Argentina’s vice president narrowly escapes assassination attempt

The President spoke briefly after a video was posted on local TV stations showing the assassination attempt as Fernandez climbed out of her vehicle surrounded by supporters. A man could be seen extending his hand while holding a gun before she appeared to pull the trigger inches from his face.

The man, whose identity has not been released by authorities, was arrested within seconds. The president said the gun had five bullets, “and it didn’t fire.” even though the trigger was pulled.
